BOWERMAN BRINGS IT HOME

NIKE'S GRANT PROGRAM RESURFACES TRACK

New Hampshire’s Kennett High School had a lot to celebrate with Nike at its first home track meet in 14 years. Held on the school’s new state-of-the-art track on May 8th, more than 300 spectators came out to join in the celebration and watch the Kennett Eagles compete on their home turf.

As a recipient of the Nike's Bowerman Track Renovation Program Grant, Kennett High school was presented with a Bowerman Track Grant plaque. The plaque commemorates Nike’s $50,000 gift awarded in memory of the company’s founder Bill Bowerman and his lifetime commitment to running.

Nike’s first employee, Jeff Johnson, a New Hampshire resident, was on site to present the honorary plaque and participate in the inaugural celebration.

“Greatness has to come from somewhere, all it needs is an opportunity,” Johnson said. “This track represents that opportunity for greatness to prosper.”

Founded in 1999, the Bowerman Track Renovation Program helps communities restore running surfaces through grant donations. For more information about Nike’s Bowerman Track Renovation program, visit www.nikeresponsibility.com.
