Nike and the Football Foundation recognize the impact young people in sports can have on the community. That’s why they teamed up to create the Nike Player Panel, a group of premier league players in search of the best community-based sports projects in every region. Impress top players Theo Walcott (Arsenal FC), Owen Hargreaves (Manchester United FC), Steven Taylor (Newcastle FC), and Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa FC), and your project could be awarded £10,000 (over $19,000).
Do you know of a community project from one of the UK’s four regions that has what it takes to win? Visit the Football Foundation’s Web site for more details on the program and how to enter. The application deadline is April 8, 2008.
The Nike Player Panel is funded by Reuse-A-Shoe, a longtime sustainability program that takes worn-out athletic shoes and recycles them into material used in sports surfaces.
